The long term goal of our group is to reach understanding of structure, dynamics and functional mechanisms of membrane proteins and self-organized biological assemblies and to translate this knowledge into new concepts for nano-devices, medicine, and new materials of technical importance.

Dr. Bela Bode krijgt een Feodor Lynenonderzoeksbeurs voor postdocs van de Alexander von Humboldt-Stiftung voor de ontwikkeling van nieuwe methoden voor de signaalverbetering van de vaste toestand nucleaire magnetische resonantie (NMR). Met deze beurs wil hij een specifieke analytische tool ontwikkelen voor oppervlaktestudies en het onderzoek aan membranen en membraaneiwitten.

Thierry Rohmer received Ernst Award for elucidating the light-switch of plants

PhD student Thierry Rohmer received the Ernst Award 2009 of the Gesellschaft Deutscher Chemiker (GDCh) for his publication in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Science of the USA on the structure-function relation of the photoreceptor phytochrome. The prize was presented at the Annual Discussion Meeting of the GDCh-Fachgruppe Magnetresonanz in Dresden in September.
